Meinungen zum neuen IROC

The new Scirocco needs to be fast and fun. Better than most of competition (Honda and Subi) in handling and acceleration. The new Scirocco needs to be a light car. A heavy car (like a 1995+ VW) gets worse gas mileage than a lighter car with the same drive train. A heavy car is slower in transitions and requires more brakes, power and suspension. The concept needs to be priced for the lower end of the market in both maintenance and purchase price. VWs are fewer and fewer at real driving events because they just don't work as well as other new and even older cars. We as Scirocco drivers want to be winners not losers. VW needs to support US and racing with the new Scirocco!

The Scirocco needs to be small on the outside but big inside and not heavy. If the green house is restricted the interior will feel smaller.
What makes the Scirocco MK1 so cool is that I can transport two people and put all my tools, an extra set of tires, a gas jug, a canopy, chairs, and a cooler in the back. I can go to a track day with all the stuff that others cars need a trailer for. Cars like the Miata can't do this.

Putting four 19" wheels in the back of a Scirocco? Think 16s or less if that is even possible in today's fashion driven, over inflated wheel world we live in. The new Miata looks stupid with the over sized wheels it comes with.

I can see several different directions of what the Scirocco could or should be. I think a sport hot hatch would be more popular than a super car. When I say sport I am talking about a car that is a driver's car. A sport (sports car) has no extra luxury features that are not needed. The Honda S2000 and Miata are good examples of what sport is even tho they have extra luxury.
The Scirocco needs to convey some romance not TOY styling..

wow, der Entwurf von doug gefällt mir sehr gut, das erkennt man sofort die Verwandschaft zu Corrado und Scirocco 1!

@Doug: Very nice concept of the Scirocco 3! I think too, that the scirocco 3 should be light. So the car needs less gas and is more agile.

@Thempest: Hoffe, dass das VW berücksichtigt...

@Doug: I agree with your argumentation. From my point of view, a Scirocco must me an emotional car, on the outside, on the inside an of course you need to feel the special kind of emotion when you drive it (the driving experience *zoom* *zoom*).. There is this special seat position very near to the ground, a cockpit with a "sporty" look, a stiffer suspention and directer steering than most of the other "all day life" cars. But on the other hand, a Scirocco needs to be a "daily driver", with a lot of space for things for everyday life. And as you mentioned it needs to be attractive for the buyer referring to gas-prices, taxes etc. Combining all that individual needs: That is main task, and it is not that easy to solve.

I'm still not very pleased with the back of the IROC-concept. It is no sportcoupé like the MkI the MKII or the Corrado. It looks to "normal" for me, you can't really identify it when you see it at first sight. It could be a Peugeot, Renault, Opel what ever. But the front is very nice, very aggressive and it is individual, when you see it you can say "look ther's an IROC !", like the MkI and MkII.

I really like your sketch there are many similarities to the MkI, MKII and Corrado, but it still looks "modern", like a classic design transported to the future.

I worked on some ideas for the Scirocco III, may be you want to have a quick look, there is some kind of "design development"

D: Wie Doug bereits auf einem englischen Rocco-Forum erklärt hat, ist sein Sketch innerhalb von nur 5 Minuten entstanden :repsekt:

Mit so vielen hochbezahlten Designexperten bei VW möchte man meinen, dass die doch einige Designelemente aus Dougs Sketch übernehmen würden, um das jetzige Heck am Iroc zu überarbeiten.

GB: As Doug has already explained on an english Rocco forum, his sketch took him less than 5 minutes

Now, with so many highly payed design experts at VW, one could argue that they can pull off something similar or at least take some design cues form Doug's sketch and sort out the rear end of the Iroc.

@ Doug: Let's keep a careful eye on further developments of the rear end of the current Iroc, as you may be eligible to royalties, should VW use any of your design elements

allso bei uns sagte jeder sofort das is ja kein Scirocco mehr ,das stimmt so denke ich auch .es fehlen halt die ecken und Kanten
aber für mich ist es einfach nur ein VW und kein Scirocco .
Es hat aber auch vorteile weil ich nämlich schon von ältern Leuten gehört habe das sie ihren 2 er verkaufen und sich dann den 3 er kaufen freu
hab mich gleich mal als interressent gemeldet , der wert der 2er wird dann weiter steigen und noch einige Liebhaber Sciroccos werden auf den Markt kommen die heute noch von Oma und Opa gefahren werden ,allso lasst doch den neuen kommen .

Da ich bereits 1977 den ersten TS in Palmametallic gefahren bin und inzwischen (als Sommerfahrzeug natürlich) den elften Scicco fahre (einen 81'er GT in Marsrot und US-Ausführung mit werksseitiger Klima!), gehöre ich sicherlich zu den Opis hier und verstehen kann ich so ziemlich alles, was hier empört und begeistert geschrieben wird...

Aber: Ich finde dieses Iroc-Teil einfach hammergeil und hoffe, dass bis zur Serie nicht zuviel weggecleant wird. Unter dem Begriff "Retro-Design" wäre wirklich mehr machbar gewesen aber wie hätte das in die heutige Zeit passen sollen? Bei der Präsentation des IIer hätte ich heulen können und heute finde ich sogar DEN attraktiv, wenn auch ohne die markanten Highlights des Einsers...

Und wieso kein echtes Coupe mit Steilheck?...VOLVO's "Schneewittchensarg" war/ist doch wohl auch ziemlich unumstritten attraktiv.

Die genialen Bildbearbeitungen von Euch zum Heck sind dennoch durchaus interessant. Aus meiner Sicht würde es völlig genügen, die Tropfen-Rücklichter in waagerechte Rechtecke herumzuziehen und schon wäre das CIVIC-mäßige verschwunden.

Und für mich darf das Cockpit bitte bitte gerne so bleiben - auch ohne Navi...

Ich jedenfalls werde mein Hobby aufgeben, meinen geliebten GT verkaufen und den IROC oder wie auch immer er dann heißen wird, bestellen. Und für wen es in dieser Preisklasse unbedingt ein "echter" Scirocco werden sollte, der kann doch einfach seine 22 Teuro in einen guterhaltenen Einser stecken und hat dann auch was ganz Tolles - Oder?

Der sieht von vorne irgendwie aus wie ein Mitsubishi GALANT Nachfolger, der Rest kommt einen Ford Cougar gleich.

Warum nicht beides, Einser behalten (werden sicherlich noch mehr an Wert gewinnen) und einen Iroc daneben stellen ?
