It lives (31 years later)

Beitrag von Doug Teulie »

Today my 1976 Scirocco's new motor (not show in this post) ran for the first time. It has taken 8 months to convert this car from the picture that you see. It is not time to display the car yet. It will take about 6 more months before the 1976 Scirocco is on the track with full power and has a good set of legs under it. At this point the FI is working and it runs.

As for the motor you see in this post.... It is gone to scrap but I have the head and intake.

How much power does the engine have?

At this point the 1.8 ltr motor has only started and run idle. This is a major mile stone because the entire FI system including the distributor is an experiment. The axels are not mounted yet. I have not tested it for power but you can bet that it will be tested. I am not posting detailed pictures of the car intentionally because this car will be the 2008 race car. In the later part of this year many changes will be made to this car to prep it for competition. The suspension is fully developed but at this point it is not attached to the car. The first step is to get the car back on the road and registered. It will be fully street legal.

This motor had 30 years of driving, and some racing too. I think it is time for an update.
