New reproduction MK1 window gaskets/ seals from the USA

My friend Randy has been working on MK1 Scirocco reproduction window seals for 3 years. He now has product to sell if you are interested. All the seals are from reproduction tooling so all the VW part numbers I have listed are for reference.

I did not include pricing in this message because I know how long messages last and the pricing may change at some point. I do not work for Randy and I do not get any money at all if you purchase his product. I am just helping a MK1 driver out by telling you about his products. Randy has been driving a MK1 Scirocco for 25 years and is the 1st owner of his 1981 Scirocco S. As you know MK1 and MK2 parts are getting hard to locate now.

He has two different types of Windshield Seals for the MK1 Scirocco. One has the slot for the trim and one has no slot.

MK1 Scirocco Windshield Seal (OEM style with slot)
MK1 Scirocco Windshield Seal (Cal-style no slot)

Randy has re tooled the inner and outer window scraper too. I have installed them on a test car and I like the way they work and look.

Window scraper left (VW part number 531 837 475 A)
Window scraper right (VW part number 531 837 476 A)
Window scraper left (VW part number 531 837 473 A)
Window scraper right (VW part number 531 837 474 A)

The seal at the top of the window channel is available too.

Window channel seal left (VW part number 531 837 439 B)
Window channel seal right (VW part number 531 837 440 B)

The seal that goes in the mini A pillar or front glide track is available.

"A" pillar glide track seal (VW part number is 171 837 433 A.)

The door seals are retooled too.

Perimeter door seal left, (VW part number 531 837 911 C)
Perimeter door seal right (VW part number 531 837 912 C)

The rear 1/4 window seal is off new tools. I have installed this part too in a test car.

Rear quarter window seal left (VW part number 531 845 321 A)
Rear quarter window seal right (VW part number 531 845 322 A)

Rear hatch seal (VW part number is 531 827 705)


The rear hatch glass seal is only available in the "Cal-style" which doesn't have grooves for the chrome molding that goes around the perimeter of the glass.

I have installed most of Randy's seals and they have worked well. I have overseen the long term testing. Randy is working hard to deliver the best quality. You can imagine just how much this has cost Randy. I will try to get some pictures to show the products for you.

Yeah, seem to remember relevant postings on Vortex some time ago, and the window scrapers did catch my eye.

A price on the outer window scrapers (both left and right side) would be of interest to me.

Do you know if any other MK1 or MK2 original OEM (made in Germany) seals are still available? As our cars get older it is good to know what parts are still possible to get. Randy is working on MK2 Scirocco seals now. The tooling is expensive. If some parts are still available it would be best for Randy to work on the parts that are not possible to get. I am posting this as information to help us preserve our cars.

i can vouch for randys front and rear seals as i have them fitted to both the 77 and 81 and they are a perfect fit and of the highest quality, i also have a set of cal-look(without the need for the trim piece) ones from randy but have yet to fit them.

MK1 1980 Scirocco Windshield Seal (OEM style with slot shown)

I have a set of Cal-style front and rear glass seals that I am installing on my silver 1976 project car. It is true that the Cal-style (no trim ring) does not look 100% OEM but the trim is a real pain to install. My 76 is a race car and the glass will come out when it gets pits, chips or cracks. The Cal-style seal will work great for me on this car. If I ever want to go back to the OEM look I can. I have the standard front seal that I got from VR. The rear OEM seals can be reused but they will shrink if they are 30 years old.
