Dirk,
I like your shirt design very very much ). I did not know that the meet had a shirt at all.
As a MK2 driver myself I would want the MK2 on the shirt as you point out. If you would like me to continue with my shirt layout I could add a MK2 and a MK3 with some real logos and some country flags. If you have an official design I don't want to derail your progress.

Would take one already. I particularly like the idea of having all 3 type 53s on one and the same T-shirt

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
Tempest and Dirk,
Thank you for your input.
This is my next step on a shirt design. The art is not finished as you can see. I did the MK2 real fast with no picture to look at so it is not up to our standards yet. I don't have a Corrado in it yet but I will add a front view.
Is it OK to use the Karmann logo like this?

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
That 2nd design looks really neat already
Although, despite what Dirk said about the Rado (for which he gets a hefty ), personally I would still like to see a Corrado in there, too, I suppose it may upset the symmetry of the current design somewhat. Then again, Doug, I'm sure you can sort something in that department
Justification for putting a Corrado in? Well, it is a type 53 after all, once called a Scirocco by the real VW department, i.e. the engineering department (not those marketing monkeys ), and given that not a single Mk1 or Mk2 Rocco will be joining in from Britain rather than 6 Mk3s, it would even encourage my British fellow-travellers on this holy trip to get such a shirt, if they'd see their beloved Corrado on the shirt
Just gives Dirk more work ironing work (erm, heat transfer, as it's technically known)

This is what I was thinking.................... For the Corrado.
Top center for all the folks with the newest 53.

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
Although you've managed to keep a very nice symmetry in the above design (that of a triangle), I would have to agree with Dirk, that the Corrado stands out a bit too much. I don't know whether the background bits of the design could be extended upward, such that the Corrado blends in a little bit more?
I know, I'm a bl**dy moan, especially as I wouldn't be able to do it any better myself.
>We shouldn't forget that it is mainly a Scirocco gathering
Correct, see my comment above, there will be 3 Mks of Roccos attending, 1 through to 3 That's why all 3 generations should ideally be featured in a T-shirt.

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
@ Dirk,
I understand 100%.
I am a Designer so I see how the design works with just the two (Sciroccos)on the back. I could make a front detail with the Corrado. I have never even driven a Corrado but I want to have one some day. As you know I am a Scirocco person but I understand the love for all Karmann cars.
The Shirt file is in Corel Draw. I can send you the file in a format that you can work with. I don't know what that is now????
Do you want text in German? The design is all in USA text (note the date) and you may want it your way??

Re: PLANNING THE KARMANN VISIT 17th-20th of AUGUST - (was: Retro Cars 02/2006)
The colour version above with the beautiful (IMHO anyway ) rendering of the 2 Roccos is darn near perfect (I'd call it perfect anyway).
I'd be happy with that design on a T-shirt, and was thinking that a 2nd version (which I'd also take) would be to replace the Mk2 Rocco with a Mk3. There would be 2 versions then, to please fans of all 3 generations. I think it's fair to say, that the Mk1 Rocco is still loved most by most, hence my suggestion of leaving in the Mk1 in the T-shirt version with the Corrado in it.
To carry on on this theme, I suppose Dirk would want a version where the Mk2 is replaced by a Hornstein
>I have never even driven a Corrado but I want to have one some day.
Well, that can and will be changed in August then You'll probably even have the choice: LHD or RHD Corrado? 16V, G60 or VR6? European or US-spec? G-Lader that goes pop? Erm, no, maybe not
>The design is all in USA text (note the date)
Happy with as it is, date in that format is often used in the UK, too. Hence shouldn't be a problem for my people It is this year becoming a truly international gathering, anyway
>I still like corrados,
You nearly had me worried there
