Irish Corrado Owner in Koln

Beitrag von Mikevr6 »

Hi Guys,

I joined a while ago but I have been without a real car for a few months. Driving a Golf IV Diesel instead (yawn) :)

Hopefully this week I will be picking up a Mystic Blue Corrado VR6 Storm.
I am living in Cologne (Koln) in NRW and I'm interested in any local VW meets as well as trips to the Nurburgring. I've been heavily involved in the VW scene at home in Ireland and I am really missing it living here in Germany.

Also can anyone recommend a good local mechanic in the area? I don't have the possibility to work on my own car here in the city. So I need to find someone competent to take care of any jobs my new baby needs doing.

Thanks in advance!

Ah, welcome to starting to post here :grins:

I remember you contacting me regarding your questions some time ago

Regarding local VW meets, more so Rocco/Rado meets:

Pretty much all Rocco meets (because that´s really what members of this forum are interested in, typically avoiding the big commercial general VW meets, going for organising their own stylish non-commerical gettogethers with like minded Rocco/Rado drivers - something I would like to see happening more here in the UK) are posted up here:

Treffen:
http://www.sciroccoforum.de/forum/forum ... .php?f=224

Usually a chap called Thomas (username RCV) organises a Rocco meet not far away from where you are. The last one he did ws in November 2009, after which no doubt his cars all went off the road, and general interest in car meets tends to drop, bit like in the UK.

Here´s the thread for the meet he organised in November 2009: http://www.sciroccoforum.de/forum/showt ... p?t=315782

These meets go by the name Mösrath Treffen, named after the place where they take place, Rösrath. Bit of an insider, once you get to know the gang that regularly attends those meets.

Then there is the big Rocco/Rado meet in Boekel, the Netherlands, last weekend of May, just a small trip from where you live :grins: , see here: http://www.sciroccoforum.de/forum/showt ... p?t=314957

I usually post details about that meet on the Corradoforum, where it basically receives little or no interest (not sure why ;noidea:), but everyone who´s ever been from the UK loved it!

Needless to say, I´ll be going again this year, as I have been since 2003 :grins: Usually have a few fellow Rocco peeps from the UK with me, and one or 2 Corrado people, the diehards.

Keep an eye on the Treffen-Forum for any events that take place at the Ring, bearing in mind that during these cold winter months there will be little interest Usually kicks off again April/May time, in the past few years there have been get-togethers by forum peeps at the Ring. The last really big event at the Ring was this forum´s birthday bash back in August 2009, where Chris aka 2cc from the Corradoforum as my passenger in my Mk2 Storm Rocco and me plus a 2 more Roccos from the UK drove to

Garages directly in Cologne? Hmm, best wait for some tohers to answer that one. I know there are a few members from this forum that live in or in the direct vicinity of Cologne, good idea to check out the members´ map: http://www.sciroccoforum.de/forum/vbmembermap.php

Have fun in Cologne, first few months may seem dofficult, possibly, but once you get to know the first few people, things will become enjoyable. Cologne peeps are quite nice and relaxed, have good humour and a ¨weird¨ local accent :hihi:

Thanks Eric. The Rosrath meet is only 20 minutes from my place. Can't make it to the one in April so I'll try and make it to the big meet in The Netherlands in May. Even if it's just for a day trip.

Still no response to my mechanic question. Can anyone from Koln help?

Thanks MBO. Still waiting to pickup my new Corrado VR6 "Storm" at the end of April. Don't want to bring a Golf Mk 4 to the meet. Not "Old Skool" enough :)

Would be good to see you in Boekel, Netherlands end of May. You'll no doubt spot the UK camp, which this year will be combined with the Ostfriesland camp again  , recognisable by its good humour, laughs, slight amounts of alcohol no doubt, and little by language I guess

Ok, I picked up the Corrado Storm yesterday. Had a fantastic 500 mile drive from Birmingham to Koln!
Arrived at 00:30 this morning and went to bed.

Just checking the car over today. I noticed it has used about half a litre of oil on the journey. There is also a knocking noise coming from the exhaust.
I would like to take the car to a VW Specialist Mechanic for a check. Can someone recommend one please.

You´ve been in Birmingham yesterday?

You should have taken your new Storm to Stanford Hall and come and say hello to us yesterday, piccies here.

Organised 2 club stands, one for the Corrado Club and one for the SciroccoRegister, both located next to each other, with loads of the ¨usual suspects¨ in Concourse :grins:

I was in Birmingham on Saturday. But if I'd known about the meet I would have stayed an extra day.
Did you get my PM? Really need a mechanic urgently.
